CRIME NEWS

  • Iowa State University police reported 13 arrests and 39 alcohol citations on Saturday when Iowa State hosted Iowa in the annual Cy-Hawk game—eight arrests were for public intoxication and one for OWI, with citations issued for underage possession, and the department recorded 67 first aid calls along with five ambulance transports as it urged fans to drink responsibly.  KCCI

CULTURE NEWS

  • KCCI has received 10 regional Emmy nominations for overall excellence and news excellence, including nods for its morning show covering the end of the legislative session and for the Greenfield Strong news special. Meteorologist Zane Satre, reporters Eric Hanson and Olivia Tyler, and the promotions team were recognized — winners will be announced in October.  KCCI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Iowa Department of Corrections reported a drop in the recidivism rate to 32.8% for fiscal year 2025—3% lower than last year, marking the lowest rate in a decade. Gov. Kim Reynolds and DOC Director Beth Skinner credited better treatment, education, and reentry practices for the decline.  KCCI
