- ➤ Since its groundbreaking in April, work at CYTown—located between Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum—has advanced with crews constructing the 78,000-square-foot McFarland Clinic that will offer urgent care and pediatric services. The clinic will open next year and the district’s eight planned buildings will finish by late 2027 to include restaurants, shops and an outdoor amphitheater. KCCI

- ➤ Iowa State experienced two false active shooter calls earlier this week—campus lockdowns were triggered and experts said the threats may have been generated with AI to mimic voices. Local 5

- ➤ Iowa State Veterinary Medicine has partnered with Kansas State and University College Dublin after meeting at a summit during a football trip to Ireland last week — the three schools will offer exchange programs and joint research efforts to give veterinary students diverse clinical experiences and compare different agricultural practices. - ➤ The Iowa Department of Transportation will host an online auction from Sept. 3 to Sept. 16 that lets residents bid on vehicles and equipment such as cars, pickup trucks, tractors, snowplows, and shop equipment. Interested bidders must register online before placing their bids. KCCI

- ➤ UI Health Care and University of Iowa Community HomeCare sent letters on Aug 29 to about 211,000 people after a cybercriminal accessed UI Community HomeCare’s computer system on July 3—servers were quickly shut down, experts restored systems within one business day, and files with patient and employee information were taken though electronic health record systems were not affected.
