- ➤ At the Iowa State Fair, Pete and Alba Caspers set a new record for biggest pumpkin with a 1,409-pound entry — breaking the previous mark of 1,323 pounds — after starting it on March 11. KCCI
- ➤ On Thursday, Aug. 7, 95,671 people attended the Iowa State Fair's first day, up from 90,822 last year despite morning rain — Forrest Frank set a new record with 15,804 tickets scanned for his Christian act. The fair will run through Aug. 17 and is expected to attract over a million visitors by its close. Local 5
- ➤ Brazilian twins Walter and Wagner Caldas—known as B2wins—announced they are returning to Brazil after more than 20 years of performing in Iowa. They thanked the community for the memories following a well-attended final concert. KCCI
