- ➤ Iowa’s Sales Tax Holiday begins on Friday, Aug 1 at 12:01 a.m. and ends on Saturday, Aug 2 at midnight — businesses open during this time will not charge sales tax on clothing or footwear costing $100 or less — easing back-to-school shopping. Local 5

- ➤ Central Iowa Water Works announced that local businesses may resume lawn watering and irrigation today—using an even-odd schedule with even-numbered addresses watering on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday and odd-numbered addresses on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday—after tests showed water quality was stabilizing and customer demand was low. - ➤ Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for Hancock, O'Brien, Osceola and Sioux counties after Monday night's storms hit the area. The proclamation — effective immediately and expiring on Aug. 28 — allows state resources to be used for response and recovery efforts and lets residents apply for reimbursement for storm damage.
