  • Newton police charged four people—Jeffrey Alan Stevens, Scott Ray Mabrier, Thomas Patrick Olofson and Alysha Anne Buell—with abuse of a corpse and obstruction of prosecution after a June 9 search warrant uncovered the body of 66-year-old Tomie Lee Misner Jr. and 11 pounds of meth at a Newton home.  KCCI

  • Heavy rainfall early yesterday caused flooding on roads in parts of the Des Moines metro and to the east and southeast — drivers were warned to take alternate routes. Rain totals ranged from 5.98 inches in Stuart to 1.37 inches in Ames.  KCCI

  • Iowa DOT said on June 25th that Iowans can now add their driver’s license or state ID to Google Wallet on Android 9 or later phones. The free digital ID option is secure and can be remotely deleted if a phone is lost—DOT said it will soon work at over 200 TSA checkpoints and participating businesses—offering a new, smart way to carry ID.  Local 5
