- ➤ The Ames Animal Shelter is offering reduced adoption fees this month for Adopt a Cat Month—adult cats are available for $25, which includes a veterinary exam, vaccinations and spay or neuter, while kittens are available for $100 and there is a two-for-one special. - ➤ Ames police are asking residents to register their home security cameras with a city website to help quickly locate footage in crime investigations—57 residents have already registered, and footage helped track a car thief in a recent case. KCCI

- ➤ Julie Stauch, a fifth-generation Iowan (she has worked on more than 24 political campaigns), announced her campaign for governor Tuesday morning and said Iowans want change and more care for our water, soil and children’s futures.
