Good morning, Ames. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 21st of May.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Blank Park Zoo began building the new Marjorie A. Foster Lion Conservation Center — it will give lions three times the room they have now and feature floor-to-ceiling glass with three viewing areas for visitors. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced Tuesday that he will seek reelection in 2026; he said he chose not to run for governor because he believes there is still work to be done in building markets for Iowa products, protecting the livestock industry, and improving soil and water conservation to help rural Iowa thrive.  Local 5
  • Officials in Story County are reviewing a pop-up All-American Rejects concert held on May 17 at The Blue Door that did not secure a required Special Events Permit.
