- ➤ Afghan refugees in Iowa are scared after receiving letters from the Department of Homeland Security that order them to leave the country—letters that have stirred deep fear among over 1,200 people who fought for the U.S. During the meeting, Shir Agha Safi of Afghan Partners in Iowa said many feel abandoned and are reaching out to congressional representatives for help.
