- ➤ The Campustown Showdown will bring a cattle show and live music to Welch Avenue in Ames on April 25-26. The event kicks off with a showmanship competition at the Hansen Ag Center at 6 p.m. on April 25 and will end with a final event featuring a fashion show, vendor booths and a country music performance by Jake Jacobson at 6:30 p.m. on April 26. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Iowa State University started construction on CyTown, a $200 million development between Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum, as dozens attended Tuesday’s groundbreaking for the 78,000-square-foot McFarland Clinic. Athletics Director Jamie Pollard said the clinic will jump-start the area by attracting 800 patients a day and by adding new restaurants, event spaces, retail outlets, and a hotel—set to complete in early 2027. - ➤ Students at Iowa's three public universities may face higher tuition for the school year 2025 to 2026 as the Iowa Board of Regents meets on April 24 to review a proposal designed to address rising costs such as inflation and faculty recruitment. If approved, in-state rates will increase by 3 percent at University of Iowa and Iowa State and by 2.7 percent at the University of Northern Iowa with steeper hikes for out-of-state students, while a final decision comes in June.
