- ➤ MidAmerican Energy filed a request with the Iowa Utilities Commission on Tuesday to add a 0.4% charge to natural gas bills that will pay for necessary safety and reliability investments—if approved, the fee is expected to add 17 cents to the average residential cost and could take effect as soon as May 30. - ➤ The Senate changed a bill so that the Iowa Utilities Commission must decide on requests for taking private property within one year and pipeline companies remain liable if they cause damage to land.
