- ➤ Ames police are investigating an accidental shooting at an apartment in the 200 block on South Sherman Avenue after a 4-year-old child was shot shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday and taken by air ambulance to a hospital where the child later died — the investigation is ongoing. KCCI
